Matti Nykänen, Ikaros of Jyväskylä

2005-09-27 02:34 GMT

Day we all waited came. Matti Nykänen, worlds greatest ski-jumper, legendary singer and husband of Empress of Sausages Mervi Tapola, was released from jail on 21.9.2005.

Event got the publicity it deserved. Matti swore that he wouldn't eat sedatives or other drugs and although a small argument between lovers was immanent, he walked out of Kylmäkoski prison as a free man. At least couple of finnish reporters felt that their livelihood was assured for the near future.

But what happened? 26.9.2005 police arrested our national hero after violent episode with the forementioned heiress, during which drunken Nykänen beat his wife with a footlamp. Unlike O.J. Simpson, Matti didn't try glorious escapes and was found passed out from his own home.

SuicideSurfers feel that Matti Nykänen has been mistreated and would deserve to be released immediately. Wife was ugly and probably asking for it. And if history acts as a model for these actions, it might have been that Mervi even threw the first rock, but since Matti can't remember anything we will never know.

Main reason for my support for Matti (although it might be that he is dangerous to himself as well as to others, even when fingerwrestling isn't involved) is that if he gets locked up again, there won't be any tabloid news worth following and those couple reporters getting their living out of Matti will starve. This will effect even on the germans, since Panzerfaust already informed me about german medias interest on Mattis recent adventures.

But maybe, as mattinykanen.net it puts, world just wasn't ready for Mattis new coming.
